Just wanted to let everyone know that we arrived safely in Manchester yesterday afternoon. We took a train and taxis to the house, so I’ve now experienced driving on the other side of the road (kinda freaky)! The house is quite cute, and I love every part of it except all the stairs I have to climb. 😛
This morning we did a prayer walk through the neighborhood and spent some time at a shopping center. Right now I’m using the computers at the Resource Center because we don’t have internet at the house yet.
I already love this place, even though we did a nice 15 minute walk in the pouring rain today. The houses are mostly little row homes that are so cute and remind me of Jane Austen novels. 🙂 We met Henry, one of the vicars (pastors) we will be working with, last night. I’ve decided I need to learn how to stop getting excited every time I hear an English accent or people are going to start thinking I’m silly. Christine and Drew (two of our leaders) said they don’t even notice anymore… to the point where Christine couldn’t tell the difference between the Americans and the Brits on her flight home last year! So I guess I’ll get used to it.
I’m not sure how often I’ll be able to have internet access until we get our wireless set up, but please keep e-mailing me and stuff; I love reading about what’s going on with people at home. Also, I’d love to get snail mail (and packages, of course), so feel free to send that as well.
Thank you all for your support and prayers! It’s so amazing to be here finally. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for the next 9 months.
