So I leave in about 4.5 hours for the Philly airport where I’ll board a plane and (hopefully) take off around 9:00 PM and head to Manchester. In the meantime, I need to pack, which is always a daunting task… so I’m putting it off by writing a blog post.
This break has certainly been an interesting one. It was wonderful to be at home with my family, to be able to spend time reading books I didn’t have time to read last semester, to be able to visit with friends. My family had a blast in Florida over Christmas. We went swimming on Christmas day, which was quite a treat for us Pennsylvanians. We got to visit a couple amusement parks and see some pretty awesome shows (Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group). But best of all we got to spend some quality time together just hanging out and relaxing.
I got to see almost all of the friends and family I wanted to. Gas prices are ridiculous, so I had to limit my long-distance trips. Talking about the last semester 20 different times kinda helped with the processing process. I appreciate having friends who know how to ask good questions.
And I got to spend some quality time with my 2-year-old cousin Tyler who is the cutest kid ever.
All in all it was a great break… good enough to make me want to stay here instead of heading back to England. But my reasons for staying are all selfish, so instead I’m getting on a plane tonight and making my way back to Manchester. Two of my teammates are not returning for this semester, so it’s going to be an interesting few weeks as we try to figure out how three people can do the ministry that 5 people were doing last semester.
I would greatly appreciate your prayers for safe travel, a quick adjustment to the time difference, and wisdom and discernment as we figure out what this next semester will look like.
